ABOUT SANDER TROELSTRA
Sander Troelstra (1976) graduated from the Photo Academy Amsterdam in 2011. He has won prestigious prizes, his work has been shown at home and abroad and he has several publications to his name. He photographs his encounters and thus examines life.

ABOUT THE PHOTO
These sisters are visitors to Lowlands 2019, where they had themselves photographed by Troelstra in the Dutch National Portrait Gallery’s daylight studio.

THE JURY
We see two women who seem to be each other’s spitting image: same attitude, same look, same hair and same clothing. But then you start to notice the differences. Do they really look that much alike?
