OVER CORBINO
Corbino (1959) werd geboren als Cornelis Maarten Corbijn van Willenswaard te Strijen en is autodidact. Corbino is zelfstandig beeldmaker en portrettist sinds 1980. Daarnaast maakte hij ruim zeventig korte films en meer dan driehonderd teksten.

OVER DE FOTO
De dierbare vriend Jeroen kreeg eind januari 2020 plotseling te horen dat hij nog twee maanden te leven had. Pittige medicatie zou hem maximaal anderhalf jaar uitstel bieden. Jeroen reageerde vrij rustig, bijna opgewekt, Corbino was enorm van de kaart. Zij zien elkaar als ‘kunstbroers’ en samen besloten ze een ‘document humain’ te maken van zijn laatste levensfase, hoe confronterend ook. Af en toe duikt Corbino bij Jeroen op, soms aangekondigd, soms niet. ‘Dag 01’ is direct bij thuiskomst van de allereerste chemo tot stand gekomen.

Corbino (1959) was born Cornelis Maarten Corbijn van Willenswaard in Strijen and is self-taught. Corbino has been an independent image maker and portraitist since 1980. He has also made more than 70 short films and more than 300 texts.

ABOUT THE PHOTO
At the end of January 2020, dear friend Jeroen was suddenly told that he had two months to live. Intense medication could give him one and a half more years at the most. Jeroen reacted quite calmly, almost cheerful; Corbino was very upset. They see each other as ‘brothers in art’ and together they decided to make a ‘document humain’ of Jeroen’s final phase of life – no matter how confrontational. Now and then Corbino pops up at Jeroen’s, sometimes announced, sometimes not. ‘Day 01’ came about immediately upon returning home from the very first chemo treatment.
