Photographer Colette Lukassen, commissioned by Het Scheepvaartmuseum in 2022 and ’23, portrayed nine women who work or have worked in the Dutch Royal Navy.
In this Portrait Story, Lukassen creates the final portrait in the series; that of Jeanette Morang, commander in the Navy and takes a deeper look at portraiture photography and the step-by-step integration of women in the Navy.

The portretseries is on show in the exhibition Humans at Sea until 2 July 2023 at the National Maritime Museum, Amsterdam.
